Battleships

Everyone loves a bit of competition, and battleships is the perfect game for creating a friendly rivalry. Split everyone into two teams and give each side a floatable, such as a duck or ping pong ball.

The objective of this game is to get your floatie to touch one of the opposition players while avoiding theirs. However, you can’t touch any of the floatables. Use jets, waves and air to propel your ships to victory!

Cards

Waterproof cards are probably the most famous hot tub entertainment option. Perfect for enjoying a relaxing evening with family or friends, having waterproof cards and a floating table gives you an almost infinite number of game options.

If you have younger children, there are plenty of simple card games that they’ll enjoy. Alternatively, you can get other waterproof cards, such as Uno, which provide even more game opportunities.

Board Games

Did you know that you can also get some waterproof board games? Magnetic boards mean you can play all manner of games while relaxing in your hot tub.

Whether you want to enjoy chess or checkers with a loved one, or a game of snakes and ladders with the kids, there are plenty of options available.

Cold Shower

If you want to raise the stakes a little bit, this might be the perfect game for you! For this, you will need a balloon filled close to bursting with cold water.

Standing in a circle, players hold the balloon above their head for five seconds before passing it to the next player. Eventually, the balloon will burst, giving one unfortunate person a cold surprise! Thankfully, you’ll have your hot tub to enjoy soon after, alongside plenty of laughs.

Freeze!

No hot tub is complete without a waterproof speaker. Whether you’re catching your favourite podcast or playing the latest hits, hot tubs and music go hand-in-hand.

If you want to use your speaker for a hot tub game, then freeze is definitely one of the best. The classic birthday party game, simply move your body until the music stops! If you want to relax in your hot tub, you can turn this into a purely upper body experience – expect lots of flailing arms!

Floating Races

Floatables are always good fun in a hot tub, especially for children. If you have a rectangular spa, a great game is racing them form one end to the other!

Each player has an identical floatable – ideally a rubber duck. The aim is to reach the other end of the tub fastest, but nobody can touch the racers. Use waves to propel your duck across the finish line!

Going Camping

Another classic game that can really be played anywhere, but where’s better than in the relaxing environment of your tub, surrounded by loved ones?

For this game, one person starts by saying “I’m going camping and I’m bringing…” and names an object. The key here is that the item they choose comes with a rule, and it’s up to the other players to say “can I bring…?” and suggest similar objects to discover that rule.

For example, suppose the main person comes up with a rule that ‘all items must fit in your hand’ and says “postage stamp”. In that case, another player might say “can I bring a letter?” and the leading player would say no. Players will continue guessing similar items until they figure out the original rule.

Ping Pong Panic

An exciting game that can get everyone involved, ping pong panic is really quick and straightforward but ideal for getting a few laughs.

For this game, place a handful of ping pong balls into the centre of the pool. Everyone in the hot tub must then avoid the balls as they splash and roll through the jets. The last person standing wins – simple!

Submarine

Think Buckaroo, but for your hot tub! Submarine is a simple but really entertaining game for both adults and children.

Place a cup in the middle of the hot tub and fill it with a small amount of water, so it’s balanced. Players then take turns adding more water to the cup, and the loser is whoever sinks the submarine. A straightforward game, but you’ll enjoy it as the tension increases.

Hockey

Another floatable game, this water version of the sport is the perfect game for children. All you have to do is pick a floating ‘puck’ and two teams, which sit at opposite ends of the tub. The teams have to move the puck without touching it so that it hits the opposing team’s wall for a point. After a few minutes, the team with the most points wins!

21 Questions

Another classic travelling game, this will be the perfect brain teaser while you’re enjoying a soak in the tub. All you have to do is think of something at random, and everyone else asks you yes or no questions to discover what it is. A true classic, this game can be enjoyed by adults and kids – just make sure you pick something they’re likely to understand!
