Is Your Pool Leaking?

If you're suspicious that your pool may be leaking but now sure if and where follow these simple steps in order to help find the solution to the problem:

  1. Fill your pool to the top of skimmer and mark just above the water line.
  2. Run the pool filter/pump for 24 hours and mark again just above the waterline.
  3. With the filter pump off and leave for 24 hours and mark the loss. Also, monitor any rainfall which may alter the water level (parallel-sided container by the pool).
  4. If the water loss is the same on both tests, it is likely to be the pool shell, fittings, hydrostatic sump valve or a hole in your liner.
  5. If the loss is greater with the filter pump running, it could be the backwash line, a leak in the plant room or heating equipment or in the flow or return underground pipelines.

You can do a visual inspection of this equipment in the plant room but we would need to complete a pressure test of underground pipes.
