Swimming Pool Chemicals
So - we've hit that point in the year where our outdoor swimming pools have been tucked up in bed for the last couple of months and your thinking about just takinga peep under the cover to see how it's getting on?
Swimming pools do need checking at about the mid-point (now) just to ensure all is well - the last thing you need is a green swimming pool when you come to open it in a couple of months.
The best course of action when checking your swimming pool chemicals is just to ensure that the pool chlorine is sufficiently high. You want to aim for your chlorine levels to get back up to around 8-9ppm which is very high. So top up your swimming pool chemicals as required and perhaps put a bit more long life algaecide into the pool just to help prevent that nasty bloom.
If you can (or can be bothered in these freezing temperatures!!) to remove the cover it wouldn't hurt to try and remove some of the debris that may have collected in your swimming pool so far. The likes of leaves and dirt will rapidly throw off you pH levels and use up your chlorine so anything you can extract will help.
Please remember as we're getting asked a lot at the moment you can chlorine shock a bromine pool even if it's never had chlorine in it before. Just ensure your swimming pool brominelevels are down before you shock and then likewise ensure the chlorine has all gone before you re brominate. Our sales and free technical helplines are always here for you to ask away any of your questions.
