Hot tub filters usually consist of cartridges that house a filter medium. The spa’s pump circulates the water through the system, passing it through the filter, which traps tiny particles of dirt, grime and debris, leaving you with clean, sparkling hot tub water.
If you look after your hot tub filter properly and use it alongside the right hot tub chemicals, it should last at least a year. After a year or so, it’s a good idea to replace the filter cartridge – when it gets older, it will begin to deteriorate and won’t do as good of a job capturing dirt and filtering it out of your water.
It’s recommended that you clean hot tub filters regularly to ensure they’re always working at their best. Giving the filter a rinse between each use or every few days is a good way to keep it in great shape. You can also use specialist hot tub filter cleaners once a week or so to get rid of lingering contaminants.
