It is worth reiterating that algaecide for pools is a preventative measure rather than a cure for existing algae bloom. It is effective as an anti-algae treatment before you notice any signs of growth, but you will need to turn to other swimming pool chemicals to remove anything that starts growing.
Our swimming pool algaecide products are easy to use and can help keep your water algae-free for months at a time. Long-life algaecide can prevent algae growth for up to three months, making it a great tool to have on hand when you’re closing for winter. Our pool winterising kits are also particularly useful in this regard.
If algae is present in your water, you will need to remove it and thoroughly clean your pool before adding a new dose of pool algaecide. For this, you’ll likely need to use a chlorine shock treatment, which will kill the algae and bacteria in your pool and rapidly raise the water’s chlorine levels.
